I'm in my eight month of pregnancy and I have only purchased two clothing items that are specifically for maternity wear. Everything else I wear daily are my regular clothes or dresses I have purchased that I can wear now or after the pregnancy. Below are two of my recent looks wearing clothes I have had long before the pregnancy and a few other tips I have learned from other maternity outfits.
Your regular black leggings should be stretchy enough to wear through at least the second trimester. The leggings I'm wearing here are Helmut Lang and look like regular pants if the stretchy band on top is covered up. I have worn these throughout the pregnancy with a long blouse or tee. The more stretch the pants have, the more comfortable they will be and the longer into the pregnancy you can wear them. So if you are in the market of buying new black leggings, check their stretch.
I'm wearing red Jimmy Choo heels and a Chanel vintage bag. These heels are one of the best ways to spice up a simple outfit and make it stand out instantly. Here are three price point options of hot red heels:
If you are looking for a bag that is similar to a classic Chanel, but don't want to spend so much on the bag, these are some great options:
I'm wearing an old Zara skirt here that I either wear over the belly area or like in this case to the armpits with a belt. This has been one of my favorite skirts to wear during the pregnancy since the color is easy to style, but it's also extremely comfortable.
For a work look, I wear a black tee or tank top under the skirt, belt it and put on a black sweater or blazer. Usually, I'll wear this combination with high heeled sandals, but this day I was doing more walking and shopping after work, so I decided to wear black wedges.
More Ways to Wear the Maxi Skirt:
This is another way to wear your maxi skirt while pregnant- with a crop top!
Pairing the maxi skirt with a vest and belting it makes it look very chic and professional. A maxi skirt that has a stretchy top is definitely a great investment during pregnancy and you can keep wearing it after.
Maxi dresses with a good stretch are very handy during the pregnancy. If you have one or two in neutral colors try pairing them with leather jackets, sweaters, boots, and scarfs to create different looks. Here are a few looks I have copied with my black maxi dress.
